Price: $14 for 2

Fish: mahi mahi

Extras: homemade blackening spice, lettuce, tomato, salsa, grated cheese, and their “famous” guacamole

Review: When I saw the blackboard outside the establishment advertising fresh fish tacos, I couldn’t resist. Of course fish tacos always taste better when the fish is fresh, and you can’t get much fresher than fish caught a half mile away.

Unfortunately the beautiful fish were smothered in their homemade blackening spice, so much so that I could barely taste the fish at all. The tortillas were fresh (but not handmade), and they get points for not using that horrible crema so many people like putting in their tacos.

I’m not entirely sure what makes their guac so famous; it just tasted like regular guac to me. Unless my palate hadn’t quite yet been cleansed from the overdose of blackening spice.

The spice wasn’t bad, though. It was actually quite an interesting mix of flavors. I just wish there wasn’t SO MUCH of it on my fish.
