Where: La Calaca Feliz, 2321 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia
Price: $13.95 for 2 tacos
Fish: tilapia (crusted with plantain)
Extras: cabbage, avocado, and lemon vinaigrette
Review: While I certainly have a better opinion on plantain-crusted fish rather than just plain breaded fish, I still prefer plain ol’ grilling to bring out the flavor of the meat. To me, breading fish hides a multitude of sins, and these tacos are no exception.
The tortillas were definitely not fresh, and though the crema was served on the side, I ended up putting “the green stuff” (I think some sort of cilantro crema) on the taco to give it SOME taste. Needless to say, I detected no hint of lemon vinaigrette at all.
