Where: Paco’s Tacos Kapaa, 4-1415 Kuhio Hwy, Kapaa, HI 96746
Price: $10 for 2 tacos (or $14 for 3)
Fish: Ono
Extras: None! Seriously, the only thing on the plate was tacos. The garnish was cabbage, pico de gallo, and cilantro sauce.
Review: I had heard that this place had some pretty good tacos, so I had high expectations when I walked in. As soon as I saw the completely unassuming decor (most of Paco’s Tacos establishments are food trucks, but this was a tiny building on the side of the highway) to the cheesy Mexican Muzak playing, I realized I didn’t know what to expect.
Luckily, they did not disappoint. The fish was fresh, as were the tortillas (though not made right in front of me, more’s the pity). Simplicity is what made these tacos good. The cilantro sauce wasn’t overpowering, and the chunks of fish were bite sized but filling.
Were they the best in the world? No. Would I come back for more? Oh yes, definitely.
