Where: Coyo Taco South Miami (Miami, FL)

Price: $11 for 2

Fish: grouper

Extras: tomato, cilantro, red onion, avocado, shredded cabbage, crema sauce

I couldn’t visit Miami without finding at least ONE fish taco place! Coyo Taco was a five-minute walk from my hotel, so I said yes to the taco gods and went there for my first meal.

The only fish tacos available were fried…and if you have ever read any of my other reviews, you’ll know I’m a grilled fish kinda gal. However, I’ve never had grouper before, and I have to say, it tastes really lovely fried.

The tortillas were fresh, as were all the ingredients. And since I’m not familiar with grouper, I assume it is a local fish, freshly caught. The thing I really liked about these tacos were that they were simply made. The toppings were not overwhelming (nor was the crema, which I have also been known to disparage in other restaurants). It was a wonderful balance of fish and taco.
